Margret Thalwitz joined Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research as a Senior Expert Fellow in October 2012. She is conducting her research in Research Unit 1 “The (Im)Possibility of Cooperation”.
The research project is entitled "The Golden Rice Project and the Global Governance of Food".
Ms. Margret Thalwitz analyses the development and use of this special type of rice from a global governance perspective and will work on drawing lessons from the cooperation between private and public actors in this context.
Margret Thalwitz spent most of her professional career at the World Bank where she held senior positions. She has been a consultant to the World Bank, UNICEF, and the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation, and is a research associate with the Global Economic Governance Program at Oxford University and the German Development Institute. Her research interests center on public goods and global governance and currently works on issues in food security. Ms. Thalwitz holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Freiburg/Breisgau, and is Alumna of the German Development Institute's postgraduate program.
