Caused by increasing global exchange and interdependence and facilitated by developments in media technology, situations of professional interaction on a global scale have become ubiquitous in our days. The workshop "Global Collaboration and Negotiation: Case Studies in Cultural Difference" addressed the propensities and predicaments that might be caused, or at least, affected by cultural difference in this kind of locally accomplished “global situations”. While some of these dynamics might be situated on a fathomable semantic, conventional or strategic interest level, others might be due to fundamentally embodied orientations in sensory, emotional or cognitive practice. Drawing on the presentation of two case studies of (successful) global collaboration and (failing) negotiation, this workshop discussed the possibilities and limits of professional global interaction.
