China's Foreign Aid and Its Role in the International Aid Architecture

Meibo Huang will explain and analyse the Chinese system of development cooperation from a Chinese perspective. She will:

  • analyse the main motivations and principles which guide China’s development cooperation
  • discuss how China operates its foreign aid in order to achieve its motivations and principles
  • discuss the trends of the management of China’s foreign aid
  • predict its future directions and its role in the international aid architecture

In collaboration with Professor Stephen Brown from the University of Ottawa, who is also a Senior Fellow at the Centre and who will work on the development assistance provided by OECD countries, Professor Huang will discuss the implications of Chinese and Western foreign aid for the global governance of development cooperation.
