Research Assistant – Unit 2

Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research is looking for a research assistant (Master's degree), working 19 hours per week in its Research Unit 2 "Global Cultural Conflicts and Transcultural Cooperation". This post is due to start at the earliest possible time.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • providing support to the Heads of the Research Unit in coordination and communication with partners;
  • support the preparation of publications and the organisation of academic events;
  • research and evaluation of academic literature as well as documentation of research results.

Qualifications:

  • You  have a a good or very good university degree (Master's or equivalent), preferably in the field of social or political sciences, humanities, cultural sciences;
  • You have appropiate knowledge in the thematic fields of transnational cooperation, legitimacy and critique of globalisation processes and/or migration;
  • Fluency in German and English;
  • Good organizational and communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail, as well as a self-motivated work style and ability to work well both individually and in a group;
  • You are familiar with common software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willing to familiarize with other programmes;

The international research centre is a research institute of the University of Duisburg-Essen and locates at the Innenhafen of Duisburg. The directors of the Centre are Prof. Dr. Tobias Debiel (INEF, Duisburg), Prof. Dr. Claus Leggewie (KWI, Essen) and Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner (DIE, Bonn). The Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research seeks to contribute towards a better understanding of the possibilities and limits of transboundary cooperation. By building a learning community, researchers from different disciplines and world regions develop an innovative framework for contemporary cooperation research that enables the exploration of new options for global public policy. We aim to become a crucial hub for this emerging branch of research. We aim to understand the role of transboundary cooperation as an essential part of public policy addressing global challenges.
