Aurora-Projekt 'Global pasts, cultural heritage and the rise of populist storytelling'

Younes Saramifar (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Migration and Diversity Research Centre) and Christine Unrau (Centre for Global Cooperation Research) have received an Aurora Mini-Grant for their project Global pasts, cultural heritage and the rise of populist storytelling.

It brings together two strands of research which have largely been separated from each other: Memory studies with its focus on materiality, public space and cultural heritage and research on the emotional appeal of populist storytelling. At the same time, it combines a regional focus on Europe and the Americas with a focus on political actors in the Middle East. The project will feature a series of online lectures and a summer school to be held in Amsterdam in July 2023.

Next event:  Online lecture by Dr Kusha Sefat on March 14th, 4.00 pm.
