As an academic institution, the Centre for Global Cooperation Research deals in a systematic way with many topics that are regularly in the news. The assumption that globalization shapes almost all aspects of international relations in different ways and therefore creates an urgent need to understand this new interplay better, is widely shared within academics and international journalism. 'Globalization' today is an established section, just like 'environment' and 'technology', in many newspapers, signalling its appeal not just within academia, but also in an active public discourse.
The Centre is interested in an exchange of knowledge and experience. There are certain ways in which the Centre attempts to do so.
Policy Fields
Researchers from different disciplines pick a specific policy field for interdisciplinary discussions with colleagues. Under a gobal governance perspective, the Centre's research includes four policy fields (research period: 2018–2024):
- climate change
- peacebuilding
- migration
- internet governance
You many have a look at the concept, and current research group members. The Centre will be publishing its findings regularly. If you are interested in an early notification on the results, you may sign up for our press notification list.
Briefings
The Centre's public events focus on the afore mentioned policy fields and are targeted towards a broader public ('Migration and Urban Utopia') or decision makers ('Endless Peacebuilding? The Missions in Afghanistan and Mali') or both ('Online Defamation'). We have also recently started to provide Briefings, combining facts and conceptual questions for a broader readership.
